His talents extended far beyond writing, as he was a talented actor, poet, playwright, and even a skilled chess player. Together with legends such as Robert E. Howard and Michael Moorcock, Leiber can be considered one of the founding fathers of sword and sorcery fantasy, having popularized the term.
